Swiffer Sanitation & Grandma Tricks

This week at the Thomas Homestead, Sonya learned many tasks and silly tricks! Among them was the easy and all important chore of swiffering the kitchen. I do this all too frequently since I'm constantly barefoot in the summer and Sonya is constantly making messes. Gotta love toddlers! Since the swiffer is so light, and Sonya seems to be a visual learner like her mommy, she picked it up quickly and easily, much to the chagrin of the cats!

Grandma and Papap Thompson visited this weekend for our 5th anniversary, and Grandma was up to her old tricks of teaching Sonya silly things. Sonya got into Grandma's purse, and finding her compact, she was introduced, all too early, to the world of cosmetics. She became very adept at powdering her nose and cheeks under Grandma's instruction.

All week long, Sonya has started to recognize sounds that are associated with different words and is growing in her capability to vocalize them deliberately. And boy, is she quite the little gabber!!!

She will talk to Mommy and Daddy, the cats, her mow-mow, or whatever toy or object has her attention for those few seconds. Sonya can say "ball" and "dog" consistently now, and other words and sounds pop up on random occasions. She said "George!" when she saw a Curious George doll at Borders this week. It was so sweet! Along with the cute words has also come every toddler's favorite: "no." It has been an interesting week to see how Sonya has used that word when she doesn't want some types of food and books, and so far she says it in such a peaceful and demure manner. That won't change, right?
