A Mile In Another Girl's Shoes
Sometimes wouldn't it be so nice if our kids could understand all the sacrifices that we make for them? Wouldn't it be such an eye opener for them to realize that we bend over backwards to make a big deal out of little victories, change our outing plans to include a stop that's just for them, totally reroute the family finances to cater more to their needs and wants? Just to have them be in our shoes for just a moment, maybe they'd be more grateful for all they have. A bit much to ask of a 2 year old, and yet why don't we 30 year olds realize that now of our parents? Baby steps. Here are some pictures of an autonomous discovery Sonya made on her own. Literally. One of my shoes was all she could handle, and she had great balance in it. My job must be too easy. But if it were, how much I would take for granted all the little victories.
Speaking of victories, I am happy to report that Sonya has pottied for the first time on her own little potty! I think it was a fluke since we have missed twice since then and have had no more tinkles to report, so we are being patient and letting her go at her leisure. We did make her a little cake to celebrate though. And yes, it was yellow!
Best book ever right now is The Importance of Being Foolish by Brennan Manning. It is changing me. Wow, it is shedding light on Scripture and Jesus and the way we are supposed to be transparently in love with Him to shine His light to others. Why is it not until now that I have seen Jesus like this and my walk with Him? Seriously, wow. Check it out. It will change you.
