Back to the Burg

The fam, with the inclusion of Doc, took a trip (in our favorite rocket ship) back to VA to visit with everyone. After a nine hour ride, one well behaved dog and our tired family of three arrived on our old stomping grounds. It was reminiscent of Christmas time, since we saw not only Brandon's immediate family, but also Jason and Beth's family too, which we almost never see until Yueltide comes along. It was a wonderful time, and Sonya recognized everyone, and even more so, was playful and tender to even those she has shied from before. There were stories in Uncle Jon's lap, hide-and-seek with Grandpa only, and many conversations with Meme. All were intensely tickled by her newly developed friendliness. We were able to be at Sonya's cousin Jake's birthday extravaganza at Chucky Cheese! She wanted to meet the big mouse, but when we would go see him, she would bury her shy face in my shoulder.



The best fun of all though was to be had in the tiny pool that Grandpa had cleaned for her (and Grammy!) to play in our last day there.



The highlight for me was being able to visit with my friend Jo, who had just adopted a little girl, Elyse. It was amazing to see their connection, even with how new their bond was. A great visit it was, but B and I both agreed that we did not miss the Burg. Just its inhabitants.
