A New Room
4 days after my parents left, I got the bug to finish Sonya's room. With alot of paint and some help from our budding artist
...we were able to knock it out over the weekend. It isn't completely finished yet, although there are many exciting new features in her abode. We took the closet doors down, since accordion doors have teeth and bite little kids any chance they get. We replaced the doors with 2 layers of curtains, which has created new fun hiding and I can see it becoming a stage for the future thespian (or playright, since she has become quite good at making up stories. Someone please tell me what 6:35 and Enna mean?!?!?).
We purchased these magnetic chalkboards from Pottery Barn, and they have been the focus of much attention. Already they have collected artwork from preschool, letters from Grammy, and singing cards from Grandma.
Her bed we got from IKEA, and eventually it will flip to make a loft. Her bedding was the focus of the colors chosen for the walls, 2 purple, 1 turquoise, and 1 white. Butterflies from her first birthday adorn the walls, creating a wispy, wishful atmosphere in which our little one can relax and imagine.
Finally, the corner windows where her books recline. Eventually Daddy is planning to make a window seat with a bookshelf underneath, so it will be a nice little nook. Lastly along the white wall we will be putting a circular table with stools for anything from tea parties, painting fiascos, and puzzles. Although we will have to wait for the next visit from Grammy to get this last installation, since they have to bring it with them from IKEA!

Alyse wants you to decorate her room! I love it!
It is just beautiful. I love the windows in the corner. You guys are just bubbling over with talent. It will be neat to see how Sonya develops and uses all the gifts that God has given her through the two of you.
